What is the best engine to put in a john deere 4430 tractor. Alot of people told me to use a combine engine. What combine would be the best for my money. Thanks

Depends on the class. If its a 466 class find a 7.6 if its a bigger one I would start with the 8.1

Aren't all john deere 466 motors 7.6L

Re: john deere ? February 24, 2012 11:21AM
Yes and no. Yes a 466 is 7.6 ltr displacement. No, in that starting with the 50 series they redesigned the 466 into 7.6. Crank driven oil pump, gear drive water pump, better air flow, bigger cam. 55 series even better. If u can run a p pump look for a 9600, a pump 9500.

Will an 8.1 be a legal replacement in a 4010? Guess it depends where you pull but maybe for an Outlaw Light Super?

8.1 in a 4010?? February 26, 2012 12:25PM
Anyone??

Re: 8.1 in a 4010?? February 26, 2012 10:33PM
an 8.1 is not the legal replacement on a 4010 unless you do a sheet metal upgrade. Before the bashing starts about it bolting up, I'm just giving the NTPA 's rule, not mine.

Thats the way it should be but, I am not understanding the rules then. I see tractors pulling all the time that don't make the rules Esden's 460 has a knock off of a 400 series block in it no magnums ever had 903 cummins engines in them either. I think the rules should limit the blocks to direct replacements for that tractor.

If interested i have a 7.6 industrial jd engine. it came out of a logging skidder. factory 240 h.p. low hours a pump. i have one in my 4430 with a p pump. 678-446-8344

Use a 6466 above engine serial number 179000. Those are crank driven oil pump engines and can be found in late 40 series tractors and combines. Anything built after that is a good choice and my preference is an 8.1

Do you have a number on the motor or what it came out of and how much do you want for it.

Re: john deere ? February 25, 2012 10:55AM
I can get you the number off the motor tomorrow. I can also e-mail some picture monday. I'm asking 3500 for it.I left my number on the earlier post just give me a call if interested.
