600cc injection pump for ih February 27, 2012 11:36AM
Would an schied 600cc a-pump be to much fuel for an IH466 engine. i was told pump was set at 520cc and i set the timing at 34 degrees, engine is pretty much stock a little port work on the head i have gt42 3x3 turbo,093 lines, 4x 28 injectors. and feeding the injection pump with an aeromotive A1000 pump. started the tractor for the first time and it would never clear up just smoked a lot and blew raw fuel out exhaust, i dont know if i got the timing set to advanced or my injectors are to big? any help would be great thanks

Run same amount of fuel and tractor runs great , 466,3x3. Try retarding the timing. We r at 22. 34 seems awfully high.

To big of injectors! I had great luck with 4 hole 20's and timing at 30-32. Do Not retard down under 28 degrees.

i was told to run those size of injectors and set at that timing by the guy i bought my pump from and he ran the same setup i am but it defintley is not goin to work at what it is set at now, thanks so far

I used to run 4 hole 24's and mine did the same thing.... Just hazed white smoke and unburned fuel. But once I went to a smaller injector it cleaned it right up. You might also ask the guy you bought it off of when the last time its been at the shop to be balanced. I had to send mine in once a year to have it rebalanced. If its not balanced it will do the same thing cause some injectors are getting to much fuel and some not enough and that equals no power...

sounds to me like you are 180 degrees out. that fuel and timing should be fairly mild mannered. if you didn't pull your valve cover and verify you are on the right rotation I would do that now and reset your timing

What cam is in the pump 1-2-3-4-5-6 or 1-3-2-5-4-6? A pumps can have two different cams.

im not sure on the pump cam i was just told it was a quick delivery cam. would thetractor even start 180 degrees off timing

Sounds like u got a Case firing order on your pump. I"ll check my firing order in the morning. I had the same problem. If I remember right you switch either 2&5 or 3&4. Cant remember off the top my head.

it came off an ih tractor from the guy i bought it from, i guess he never said i had to change the firing order

heck our tractor dosen't run good till you have about 2500 RPM just have to push some ait through it to burn all that fuel
