finding sisu engines in the u.s. March 09, 2012 10:11AM
How difficult is it to find sisu engines? Burnt combines etc.? Also is there anyone with experience with these motors that would be willing to help and advise me on building one?

I have a few that I would be willing to part with some of the parts, they came out of burnt tractors and thats the olny way I could get them at the time and they are hard to find and not cheap ether.

Agco started putting them in their combines around 5 yrs ago. I went to the combine school when I worked for an ag dealer but they didn't go over the engine much. Agco bought sisu so I would try an Agco or Massey dealer, they might have some info or know how to get their hands on one.

Ag Chem floaters have only used them for TWO years now, not several years. Only used with the "CVT" transmission. Engines from 2007 thru 2010 were C9 Cat.

What is the bore and stroke on these motors? What kind of stock cubes do they offer?

Re: finding sisu engines in the u.s. March 21, 2013 03:39AM
is an engine out of a burnt tractor/combine a good choice? or does the heat put stress on the block?

Re: finding sisu engines in the u.s. March 21, 2013 04:03AM
depends on how burnt? and if the local FD tried to put it out? was told when cold water hits the hot motor, will cause cracks since differing metals will shrink at different speeds? Am sure others will offer opinions on this as well?

Hi, I am one of the guys from Finland that was involved in developing theese engines for pulling.

The 634 7,4L engine is the only one we ever used.

Stock bore is 108mm and stroke is 134mm. We used 115mm bore that took us real close to our 510cui limit.
