I know this has been on here before, but when a buddy of mine used a helm pump and hyd cylinder, he had to turn the wheel a lot(15+) of times from one end to the other. What set up do I need so I will not make the same mistake

Call pobar he has cylinder and steering pump that is all self contained and no need for a pump to provide pressure

I will second pobar, only way to go

The output of the steering motor is too small.

instead of 1.5 cu in helm get a 2.5 helm pump

Depending on make The cheap and easy route is to use a hand pump out of a 706 (2 lines instead of 4), add a T with a pioneer fitting and ball valve shutoff, charge with another tractor, close your valve and be dunzo Smiling can't steer with one finger but does the job!

how often do you have to recharge?

Never. Granted no leaks lol

Re: steering March 15, 2012 10:50AM
would a 4 line hand pump work the same way just plug supply and return ports?

I will trade you a 2 line (706 style) for your 4 line (9-1066 style)
