hand clutch JD 4450
|
I pull a JD 4450 in farm altered farm classes. 4 weeks ago I fractured my pelvis in two places. I can not put any pressure on my left leg (best guess for 3 months) I would still like to put some this summer. Would there be a way to make a hand clutch for it? Thought about attaching a lever to the pedal but did not know if there would be a better way on this tractor? Thanks for any ideas. |

Electric accuated clutch ? Somehow you'll have one hand on throttle, one hand on steering wheel. Electric motor of some sort would work. Can't think of web name but on Farmer Handicap site would be info. on some sort of setup. |

I have thought over and over for many nights how to make this work since I can't use a clutch either. But it'd be sorta hard to use an electric switch to slip the clutch, whereas you don't have the feel you would by slipping it with your foot. I'd be open to any suggestions as well... |

This guy runs hand controls on his 1030. I believe he is paralyzed below the waist.

Go to Agrability Project Adaptive Controls for Tractors. Go down page to Brake controls. They are air operated with small compressor and small cylinder. Don't know why they wouldn't work for clutch, looks inexpensive also. Hope this helps. |

years ago had a neighbor with Lou Gehrrigs disease. No strength in leg to push clutch but had enough to pull with his arm. Thet just set up some sort of lever device attached to foot pedal and pivoted in the middle where it was attached to side panel. Wasnt anything special but it worked and got him out in the field to do what he loved doing for the last year of his life, Aint rocket science, lol. |
