Has anyone ever used a 706 platform for pulling? Can it get striped down to 7000 pound. class? |

706 is rather common for a pulling tractor, 312-360 or 414-436-466 will bolt up to the housing. 7000# can be done, lots of light stuff though. |

I have seen a bone stock 706 gas with factory 3-pt delete, had the dual pto and clamshell fenders and 15.5's on cast wheels, and he pulled 7500 pounds. 7000 shouldn't be too hard at all. 6500 should be possible. I have seen one that weighed 5500 bare- that took a LOT of work! |

I'm sure it could be done on $7000, but keep in mind most people put more than that in the engine alone! |

Yea I'm not looking for a title or anything. I just want to pull in the local fairs. There are two cockschutt tractors and a guy with a 454 Chevy that would be in the same class. I don't want to get crazy quite yet. |

I have access to a dt360 but the block is shot all internal parts are good. Would it be wise to buy a new block to put the good parts in or just go to a 466? |

466 hands down if rules will allow you to run a 466. I have one for sale asking $1500 but will come off that price. good running complete engine. |

If you're on a budget, a running engine is much better than doing an overhaul. 1500 will buy you a 466 most any day, and a running 360 should be closer to 1000. Of course, like 1466 ih says, if you are allowed the big one, go for it! |

Tons of trucks out there with 466s many going to the scrap yard (body's shot). know of more than 1 where the guys drove it on the semi trailer took the tires and fuel out and hauled them to the yard |
