Schaeffer Oil question May 22, 2012 03:36AM
Im looking to switch oils in my light prostock. I was running Cenpeco 40wt racing oil..an I tried the Brad Penn 20w-50.. no problems with either. But I'm thinking to switch to the Schaeffer supreme 7000 oil. What do most guys run? Straight 50wt or 20w-50?

Use #191 micron-moly 20w50

Re: Schaeffer Oil question May 22, 2012 08:32AM
Straight 50w with added moly

Re: Schaeffer Oil question May 23, 2012 02:40PM
i wouldnt do it. tried it once and used up 3 sets bearings with 2 spun bearings in 10 runs. went back to brad penn and run 30+ runs a season and bearings look like new. just my experience.

You must have had other problems then. The oil works just fine. They make a 20w50 racing grade oil that works very well and many use it with zero problems. Make no mistake, there is nothing wrong with Brad Penn either. They are both better alternatives than Cen-pe-co

I still use the Cenpeco in my injection pump. I have not had any problems with the Cenpeco or the Brad Penn. I'm just looking at the schaeffer oil cause it seems like a lot more people are using it. An they are not having any problems.

What about lucas oils 50weight

Re: Schaeffer Oil question May 24, 2012 05:15AM
I gave up on Lucas.... might be great stuff. A few years ago I called them about what oil would they suggest for a diesel pulling tractor. I got... well its a diesel use 15-40, no additives.... So im gun shy with them...

Where do you even get Schaefer oil from? Im in southwest Wisconsin.

Re: Schaeffer Oil question June 14, 2012 02:54AM
Just go online and give them a call. I'm sure there is a distributor in your area. Great oil. Lots of moly (best friction modifier known) and high in zinc. That's a recipe that should take some extreme conditions.

Brad Penn 20-50 is a partial synthetic oil.
