Thoughts on Rock Valley July 08, 2012 11:50AM
This was 1 of the best pulls i have ever been to and this is why?
The Show-Very well ran.The jumbo-tron was the best I have seen with the replay and the RFD TV crew.
The Crowd-Very large crowd
Parking-Did not have to wait to long, was a large crowd though!
Announcers-Very knowledgable and kept us fans entertained
Food-Steak sandwich and Burgers were great
Pulling-Great tracks with great pulling.A few classes had low numbers and yes the DSS tractors are getting much better.
Pulling Highlights-Wild Rides-Last one Standing-Thought he was going over
Red Rock-He broke his hitch and I have never seen one roll that far after the hitch broke
Sweeps-Wiens TWD-Superman-Bowles-and Kavan-They had some awsome runs
Crowd Pleaser-The Semi-Little disapointing there was not more, however the Bully really closed the show Saturday
Criticism-Not much,Would like to see real restrooms,Those outhouses stink(no pun intended)

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 08, 2012 12:52PM
I agree with you totally! Drove 4 hrs to pull best one I have been to this year.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 08, 2012 02:18PM
I agree , 210 miles one way, worth every mile.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 08, 2012 03:42PM
10-4 on the great pull! Drove over 200 miles to pull there, definitely treat you right.
ps they'll probly have airfreshners in the restrooms next year.
pss they even changed the weather on the 2nd day, a great improvement!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 08, 2012 11:57PM
One heck of a pull. Best I have ever been too. How about the big screen. Never seen one that big, had replay of every puller, who was up next, who was leading and after vehicle pulled distance was up quick with which position they were in. Awesome!!!! What a crowd, with those big bleachers packed on both sides, had to be close to 10,000 total for the weekend. We parked a mile away on Saturday. Need parking with shuttle service next year from one of those factory parking lots. Great food, announcers, fast ran pull with over 120 different pullers. Some one needs to post picture of that jumbotron. Great job Rock Valley and Outlaws.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 02:35AM
lots of spectators to see a C grade pull, At least a lot of vehicles showed up!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 03:06AM
I guess you were comparing Rock Valley to NTPA's class A pull at Rockwell that had half the total hooks and only 9 supers (of which part were super farm class jumpers) and then only 9 super farms. A total of 18 smokers tractors in corn & soybean country. Come on. I will take Outlaws class C pull over NTPA class A anytime. Truth be know the Outlaw show cost that promoter less and they drew twice the crowd. Look how much the pull at Spencer has went down hill since Outlaws left.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 03:42AM
Yes, but the pull in Spencer costs much less to put on now. I would guess the ticket price would have a similar reduction?

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 04:00AM
I am sure both pulls were great pulls and I would like to have been at both. Please go back and read Jeff Demeres post which was very classy. Both pulls had strong classes and not so strong of classes.Bottom line, still millions of dollars worth of rigs at both shows.I would LIKE to know from WELL.What is the name of your vehicle. It must be nice if those were grade C and yours is grade A.I do not have one because I can't afford one. Both of these pulls were very successful and had alot of great top notch iron.Just enjoy the sport.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 04:22AM
There were 8 true DSS on friday night and 3 640 lim pros that pulled.

It was too bad 3 of those DSS had some breakage and couldn't come back for Saturday. Hope everyone can get back together for the next hooks.

And on Sat there were 5 true DSS and 4 lim pros that hooked.

No super farms pulled in the DSS class in Rockwell.

And there was a class of GN semis that did add to the smoke side of the show.

Talked to some Rock Valley goers and I heard it was one of their best shows yet.

AV and tractor fan hit it on the head!
One of my very best friends on the whole planet won 4wd class Friday at Rock Valley, and I was working at Rockwell.
Both excellent shows, just wish they were staggered so I could attend both!
Lots of hard work to put on for both events, all on every committee should be commended for putting a quality event, as well as extra thanks and appreciation for dealing with very hot temperatures!
Rockwell track crew put on over 20,000 gallons of water into their tracks before friday night, and had to add more for Saturday.
I'm sure Rock Valley crews had to do the same.
THANKS to the promoters and crews for all the hard work and planning!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 09:28AM
C Grade pull with lots of fans, and lots of trucks. A+ grade pull @ Rockwell with 7 semis, GN Mod exhibition Saturday, huge Mini class, and good numbers in all other classes. Rockwell had 6 classes with 70 hooks while Rock valley had 11 classes with with 118 hooks. Hmmm therefore if NTPA had 11 classes that would have made for about 130 hooks. Remember this was just a region 5 show with two GN classes at Rockwell while Rock Valley was an extreme national event. This is like comparing Rock Valley to Tomah and which isn't even a comparison! Quit bragging up Rock Valley and putting Rockwell down. Rockwell will get bigger every year and so will NTPA region 5 in iowa. Face it Outlaws were coming! Bring on the smack talk!!!!!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 09:36AM
No one from Rock Valley said anything about it being better then rockwell first of all. Second of all to whomever said rock vallet was a Grade C pull easy solution. theres 2 options 1) DONT COME THEN 2)dont drink so damn much alcohol and maybe you will be able to realize that was one of the best pulls in the midwest. Both pulls are good for the communities and fans. PS I bet Rockwell didnt have a 16x12 foot TV.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 09:44AM
By the way that big screen tv is the biggest scam since Internet porn Doug fooled you again

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 01:56PM
Region 5 get bigger? Looks to me like its getting smaller.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 03:41PM
again18 smoker tractors total at Rockwell in farm country. Enough said.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 10:41AM
We attended both Rockwell and Rock Valley over the weekend. By far, Rock Valley had the best pull. The track crew knew how to keep both tracks running with little wait time in between pullers. Rockwell took way to long to get the track ready and get the pullers to the line. If you have two tracks, they should both be used for the whole show, not just use the second track for one class. Rock Valley had more classes and pullers and still took less total time to run their show. Both pulls had excellent machines running down the track. We decided to attend Rockwell because we heard so many good things about that show, but after attending both in the same weekend, Rock Valley is the place we will keep going unless Rockwell can improve their show by preparing the track faster in between pullers and using the second track more.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 10:43AM
Rockwell will figure it out!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 12:54PM
i saw pictures of tomah this year and i swore it looked like a nascar crowd. about a third of the stands were full. look at pictures of rock valley and you'll see a pack crowd both nights.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 09, 2012 02:19PM
Red Pulling fan, First of all thank you for attending our show Friday night. I agree with all your comments on our show that night. As a promoter some things happened that night that were out of our control such as breakage on the very first hook. The other things i will not vent online. As for the second track usage we never intended to run both tracks this year. We were able to get 100 loads of clay free so we thought we might as well take advantage of the situation while we could. Also running two tracks full time cost more and we are slowly building to that. I only wish you had your nights switched around because for the same show on Saturday night plus a run by Cross Threaded Mod was a 4 hour show instead of 5 and a half hours on Friday night. I was approached by a fan that had attended Rock Valley on Friday and ours on Saturday that said he had a great time at both pulls! I am thrilled Rock Valley had a great show as it will only help both shows in the future as fans see what we both have to offer. Again congrats to Rock Valley and thank you to all the pullers and fans that attended our show!

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 10, 2012 11:19PM
Went to Rock Valley and it was awesome. Had good food, nice parking, lots of truicks and tractors, great announcing, pull well ran and fast. The new 30 year outlaw program was a bargain for $5, that thing is a book with over 130 pages. The highlight from past years was the big jumbotron, that thing was huge and way cool. First pull I had been too with one, and it had replay of each truck and tractor, who was up, who was leading and the distance was up immedatly showing what poisition they were in before the replay even statrted. Thanks to Rock Vallley, Outlaws, RFD TV, and everyone else for the pull of the year in my opinion.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 11, 2012 02:08AM
Just to let you know, AP Productions is NOT RFD TV!
They film NTPA grand national tractor pulling to produce the NTPA show for RFD TV, but, just because AP Productions is there filming the event does NOT mean it will EVER air on RFD, or any other broadcast TV. I do wish it would!
Ever see any Outlaw coverage from Jefferson City, Mo. on RFD?
No one from Outlaws ever said it would be shown on RFD, but the Outlaw competitors at Jefferson City were convinced they would be on TV later in the winter.
You can order DVD's from AP if you want to see it on TV, but it isn't going to get on RFD, till Outlaws strikes a deal with RFD, or any other venue like that.
All the rest of your post is 100% correct.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 11, 2012 04:06AM
My mistake, heard the announcer mention RFD TV and thought they were filminmg. Thanks to AP Productions for a tremendous job feeding that big screen and all the info on it about who was pulling.I could care less about it being on TV. I saw it live and then a replay at the event. TV does not do pulling justice, just like drag racing, nothing like being at the event and feeling "the thunder in the dirt". Great job Rock Valley and where is the big screen going to be used next.

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 11, 2012 02:36PM

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 11, 2012 03:47PM
It will be at the iowa state fair too

Re: Thoughts on Rock Valley July 11, 2012 03:57PM
