how to find traction control July 23, 2012 12:53PM
I am wanting to know, how you can tell if some one is running electronic traction control with the ignition box , also how could you prove some one had it? Just wanting to keep it fair

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 12:59PM
Is there a rule against it, or are you just being a crybaby? Why doesn't everyone just go ahead and make a rule that says anything innovative is strictly prohibited, that way anytime someone wins, that you don't want to, you can cry they are being innovative and have them kicked from the class.

What is so wrong with traction control anyway, it will just cut the power when the tires are spinning too much, no different that letting out of the throttle to gain traction? Why do you go back to the shed and make some improvements, instead of complaining about everyone elses.

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 01:06PM
There is a rule against it and it needs to stay a human sport, not a computer game

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 01:19PM
So does that mean you don't want anything electronic? No gauges, no data loggers, no fuel injection? You wana set the sport back 60 years? You should start an organization where people have a rope around their waist and pull a metal pan that other people step on. That way the sled has nothing electronic either! By the way how is your computer powered?

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 01:47PM
He probably doesn't have a computer, he mails papers to a friend to post these messages for him, that is why there is a delay in his responses. I guess by his logic, wind up cars should be ok, nothing electronic is required there. Wonder if he is running points in his engine or that evil knew electronic ignition.

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 01:59PM
Man, give you guys an inch and you want a mile. There is no need for traction control in pulling. Why can't the driver do his job? A good driver can make up for a so so setup any day. Oh, that's right, you guys can't set it up so you need something to do it for you. Data loggers and gauges are fine, timing control is fine. Show me another motorsport that has auto logic in it? Nascar? NOPE. NHRA? NOPE (they took away the auto shifters from the Pro Stock guys several years and made it a drivers game again). F1 does some of this, but we don't have the 100's of millions of dollars in it like they do. You guys need to stick to model rockets where you just push a button and watch it go. Just my opinion.

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 01:51PM
If all you want are electronics running the throttle and controlling the driving aspect, then why do you gamers even set in the seat, why not just have a remote and set on your couch at home

P4x4 is completly rite it should be banned from pulling completely. Have u ever watched bracket racing with there computer controled crap? If you have u are aparently easily entertained. No driver skills what so ever. Now if you want pulling to come to that which aparently puller123, and farmer 1066 do because aparently they dont have the skill or know how to set up and drive there puller which 1 st off I highly doubt either 1 has but they know whats best for the sport and its not traction control. Hell monkeys can will with traction control.

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 02:14PM
So where do you guys wana draw the line on technology? Sounds like at whatever point your brain capacity or money runs out. Why not eliminate all technology in pulling completely? If your so against electronics why are data loggers and gauges ok? If your so great at setting up your rig you shouldn't need anything at all like that!

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 02:37PM
If your such a good driver then why do you need traction control, unless you cant drive

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 02:51PM
If the technology is available why not use it? With your logic you shouldn't need any technology. So you should be able to out pull guys that have 4wd with a 2wd. Or pull better with 4 cylinders than anyone else can with 8. Your so against technology yet gauges, data loggers, electronic ignition are fine. Apparently you need your own pulling organization and just a one page rule book that says only you win and everyone else is dq'd

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 03:18PM
In terms of too much technology taking the place of the human element in pulling, you wouldn't mind then... if your significant other no longer needs you for there satisfaction and instead used modern technology in the form of there battery operated friend because it works better! Remember you where all for technology when this discussion started Winking

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 03:24PM
I still am all for technology. I could take that comment even further but this is a motorsport forum and not a porn site.

Re: how to find traction control July 23, 2012 11:19PM
Well if she had one with traction control, I'll bet theres a lot more guys that would have more time for pulling, no pun intended, LOL.

Re: how to find traction control July 24, 2012 01:15AM
I think your question about how to spot traction control has been answered. Don't bother inspecting the vehicle, just mention the use of it and sit back and see who cries the loudest.

Re: how to find traction control July 24, 2012 04:07AM
With modern electronic sensors it would be difficult to prove. Once you have done the wiring to monitor

a rotating part's speed you have done over half the work to control it. Guessing you suspect a fellow 4x4

competitor is using it ? Have to videotape both sides of all trucks in class and compare/analyze game tape

later to compare performance. Could be cheating, could be legally outsmarting you. What makes you think

traction control is being used ?
