Just curious to know if navistar used same block as the 466 when they built the dt 570 they put if heavy trucks such as the Ih 4400. |

which version of 466 are you reffering to ? the 1 in the true ih tractor or navistars later version |
Re: DT 466

wasn't a DT407, was 408. These are entirely different engines compared to the "old design". |

The DT570 used in trucks was part of a new series that was different from the original DT414/DT436/DT466 as used in tractors, and the DT466 used in trucks from the 1970's through I believe 1995.
The new series was/is comprised of a DT407, DT466 and the DT570 which I believe went into production in 1995/1996. The DT407 version was dropped within a year or 2 of it's introduction and the series continues with the 466/570.They look different, are metric as opposed to the old series being SAE, and have the intake in the valve cover. The first versions used mechanical injection utilizing a Bosch P-Pump and were produced that way the first couple of years. They then went to a common rail HUEI electronic injection system that uses a high pressure oil pump to provide the injection pressure with electronic solenoids firing the injectors. There are some on the boards here that indicate the rotating assembly is the same as the earlier DT466's, but I personally don't know if that is the case. This newer DT series is also the same engine thats called a Detroit 40 series as used in some of the Agco pullers. In our school district we have and had both the mechanical and electronic versions of that motor in our buses up through 2005. Best regards, Old Pulling Fan |

It's terrible getting older I need to update my above post as I mis-stated the engine sizes in the newer DT family.
The bottom level engine was a DT408, not a DT 407...sorry for the confusion. I read so much about the original DT407 from the older series IH's that thats what popped out of my fingers. The newer DT family for Navistar trucks at introduction was the DT408/DT466 and DT530. The DT570 came into the picture in about 2004. Best regards, Old Pulling Fan |

on the newer e series engines, which a dt570 is, the block is entirely different and will not bolt up to a tractor rear engine plate also the crankshaft flange is 12 bolt instead of 8 and quite a bit larger in diameter as well. The ag front cover will not bolt on either. The dt 570 was never made as a pump line engine either they were all electronic HEUI engines. so no it will not bolt in your ag tractor. They made the dt 530 in the c model engine which is the newer style block but with mechanical injection but it won't bolt in either |

I'm sure if you check closer you have a 530. The 570 was only with HEUI and EGR. |
Re: Dt 436

Hi I've got a DT 436 in my 1466 international I need some advice on what modifications I can do to it so I can handle our hot farm class over here in Australia, we struggle for tractors in our diesel class (hot farm -pro stock ) my plan is to import one of your engine from over there , but until I can afford it I was going to run the dt436 to try to make up the numbers , I don't expect to win just put on a show , and try not to self destruct the engine, if anyone can offer me some advice and information that would be much appreciated
