IH 806 axle question August 26, 2012 01:31PM
I was told that on some IH tractor rear ends, the axle shaft is hollow where the bull gear goes on, creating an obvious weak point. Is this true? I dont believe it will be an issue for a 9000 lbs altered farm stock, but just curious of the validity of this.

I've never heard of a factory axle being hollow. 806, and even 706 rear ends are being used extensively in pullers with serious hp, so I wouldn't worry at all about it.
