560- 466cid August 27, 2012 12:54PM
hey guys have a stock farmall 560 gas. wondering if i could use this for a pro farm 466 cid max 3000rpm class? what would i need for an adapter plate for it to all bolt up and will the transmission rear end stand the extra power? should i change gears? have lots of questions, just looking for direction.... thanks in advance

I think the backing plate off of a 966 is what you will need .

Do yourself a favor and get a 706, the 560 won't take it

Re: 560- 466cid August 28, 2012 12:18PM
I am pretty sure that the 560 shared the same rear end as the farmall m-450s

Re: 560- 466cid August 29, 2012 02:59AM
The 460 and 560 where the same. M through 450 where the same. Rear ends are similar from the M through the 656 gas. but still a bit different on the interior parts. The down fall or weak point of the 460/560 type tractor was the driveline and rear end.

I don't know where u got you'r infromtion from .BUT YOU ARE WRONG.
300,350, 460 parts will interchange
400,450,560 parts will interchnge
speed up the constant mesch gears in front transmisson and use 1st and 2nd gear which you can get faster 1st and 2nd

JJ who makes those gears to speed them up I need a set.

Save yourself some money, and just install a ring & pinion from a SMTA through 450.....it will speed it up considerably, and won't cost near as much....although, you will definetely have to spend some money in the input shaft area, give up on the T/A, as you won't get it to hold with a 466 ahead of it.....

A lot of pullers are running the 706 rear ends I know of LSS pullers putting over 2000 hp through them with little or no trouble

Re: 560- 466cid August 29, 2012 10:59AM
On the 560 rearends if you change to a 400/450 ring & pinon you go from a 3.26 ratio (560) to a 2.63 ratio (400/450). It is a very noticable difference. We've run a lot of horsepower in the 560 rears both farming and pulling with very little problems. I. We had atlas build faster constant mesh gears for my profield tractor without any major problems so far.

Re: 560- 466cid August 29, 2012 01:40PM
How do they do that do you have to send atlas the back nge nof your ta housing an roughly what are we talking price wise or say would i be smartter if i chang ring an pinion an have urmeson make two faster gears for 1 st an 2nd slot whats your opinion??thanks

Re: 560- 466cid August 30, 2012 09:43AM
Depends on what speed you are looking for. Is this a mph class? The faster ring & pinon I believe will give you about 20% more ground speed. Haven't put a pencil to it but if I get time later I will see what it comes to. We didn't send atlas anything just told them what we needed to do. I'd be careful changing 1st & 2nd because they are mixed in with the reverse gears, so it could get complicated and expensive.

I run a 466 open rpms cam stock piston cut for the cam 1100 cc p
Pump 3x4 charger stock crank harden stock rods fire-ringed water injection
Inter cooler we run 20.8x38 d/cut tires clay tracks 2over all the time
We had no problem with the gears in the trans got them from allied
we burnt our first piston last week putting billet pistons in now
U can go a long way with a 466 good motors hope this helps

No mph .466 3x3 p-pump custom cam, water inj 4000 rpm.Red hot farm puller allied u said how are they to deal with i called them a little while ago an they would not even talk to me because it was a 560 an not a 706rearend.Then i called atlas an they wanted to sell me a different clutch which i just bought some wheres else an paid big bucks for ,an basically said he was to busy.So then i called another pulling company (no names mention)in KY an 2 years later i still don't have my gears, but they took a good depoist from me.I just want to deal with sumbody I don't care the price that will deliver an return phone calls when they say they will an know what they are tallking about. So any contact info wouldl be great. What combo gears or cm would you recommend. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction you truely are a good tractor puller, this sport needs more people like you in it.Thanks again

Re: 560- 466cid August 31, 2012 06:56AM
I never heard of allied doing that before they have always took care of us
I don't know were else to recommend u to go u have many more ways to
go with an 06 are a 66 I hope everything works out

Re: 560- 466cid August 31, 2012 02:04PM
The better way to speed up things probably is to speed up the constant mesh gears. Now what will develope from there is you will need a larger input shaft with a larger centers in your clutch. It'll be one of those "one thing after the other" deals until you get everything beefed up. I don't know what ratio you are looking for but for starters direct with the 560 ring & pinon is 18-1 and it's like 14-1 with the 400/450 ring & pinon.

Re: 560- 466cid August 31, 2012 05:23PM
if weight is not an issue use the 706 rear. they offer a better gear selection and parts are easy to get. I have built the 560 rears we have the ta eliminator kits faster constant mesh gears needled diff with better cross ect. you will end up with about the same money in either rear. any question call floyd isbell 570 637 1311
