I am wondering what would be a good ratio to run in a 360 cube unlimited rpm with fuel injection 6000 lb class with 18.4 tires. The diesel tractors in the class are limited to 3000 rpm and some are running pretty tall gears and don't know if I'm even in the ball park with the set up i have. Thanks

He has not said what ratios he does have, and it also depends what he thinks tall gears are.

The ratios of the diesel tractors are around 19 I have close gears ranging from 33 to 29 I do realize the extra rpm will help but not sure if it will help enough

Around here we have a class of diesels weighing 7700 lbs with unlimited rpm that run in the range of 19-22 :1 ratio. We also have a class of 6500 lb v8 tractors with 500+ inches that are limited to 6000 rpm and these run in the range of 44-46:1 ratio. So I would say your ratios are going to be too fast.

David I am not sure from your post if you are going to run a turbo or not. My reply was assuming you were not but if you are, I think you will atleast be in the ballpark.

Yeah I should have stated that earlier we can run turbos intercooler and water injection, just wasn't sure if the rpm increase would get me close to the diesels

How many rpm are you planning on running? If you run 6000 rpms, you will need a ratio that is half as fast as the diesels. So if they are running 19:1, you would need to run a 38:1 ratio to go the same speed as them.

I'm hoping to be able to run around 5000 but may be more like 4500 as an average
