What exhaust housing on a 466 with 3x4 hx-60? January 28, 2013 01:17AM
Open rpm 466 with a ton of work. p8600 pump. Hx-60 with a smooth 3" cover and 3.6 " exhaust. Would you be more inclined to try a 27 or 32 housing? Will be running a hyper #02 cam with roller everthing. Neil Christensen 608-317-7321

I woundn't think you would turn any more than a 27, probably be more like a 25.

Whose smooth bore 3x4 are you running? Most of them I find are with slotted covers. Also how do you like the hyper 02 cam?

Columbus billit 7 blade wheel with a matched belled smooth cover. Dont know how I will like the 02 full roller cam. New build. Hope to drag a chain in June.

Depends more on amount of fuel ,RPMs,timing,cam, head flow,than cubic inch . I have run 32 housing on hx60 ,470ci for several years. Tried 27 but exhaust pressure was too high, exploded compressor with 27 housing. Best to have data aquisition computer and compare pressures. Start with big housing and go smaller. Pressures need to be close to same from exhaust to boost within 20 psi

Valve reliefs are cut .220 deep and piston bowl has the "whitch hat" machined out of it. I spent a week massaging the ports before I sent it to the pros to have it finished. Typical hotfarm head with Riverside components. Counterweighted crank and more fuel than needed. Rpms wont be a problem. I believe we'll start
with the 27 and go from there.

The 27 or 32 housings are more suited for 540 cubes and 600 cube motors respectively?

Thats right. You can spin a 27 with a 466 if your running a intercooler and the right compresion pistons.
