what is a 4010 7 th gear for ratio?

Re: john deere trans. February 20, 2013 08:43AM
36.9:1

Re: john deere trans. February 21, 2013 02:58AM
Are you sure? My notes have 33.5:1.
23:28:33 in the tranny, 6:35 in the R&P, & 4:1 in the finals.

A 4010 has the following tooth count in 7th gear

high range pinion to counter=23 driving 28
Counter to pinion shaft 28 driving 33
ring and pinion= 6 driving 37
planetary =18 driving 57 formula for planetary ratio is 57/18 +1=4.167

All driven gears multiplied together and divided by all drive gears x planetary ratio

28 x 33 x 37 / 23 / 28 / 6 x 4.167 =36.868:1

pretty close to 36.9:1

to j&r do you guys make gears for transmissions?

Re: john deere trans. February 22, 2013 01:35PM
We make 3 speeds for small block Deeres and we have also made some new gears to go in place of 8th and 5th gear and still use your old shafts if you don't want a whole speed.

I have some gears to go in place of 5th and/or 8th laying on the bench for sale. I also have a counter shaft turned and ready. Might or might not have what you need, leave contact info if anyone is interested.

You would not happen to know what the ratio is on a 4430 quad? In c4?

Re: john deere trans. February 25, 2013 08:57AM
I will be the first to admit that I am not very familiar with the quads. I believe that the quads are basically a 2 speed mounted in front of a syncro range. So c4 would be when the 2 speed is in high and I think this is direct in the 4430. So it would basically be like being in 7th gear of a syncrorange. The gears inside the transmission of a 4430 have alittle different tooth counts than say a 4020 but from the information I have, here are the tooth counts on a 4430 quad. in C4

high range pinion to counter = 19 driving 23
counter to pinion = 23 driving 27
ring and pinion = 9 driving 47
planetaries = 4.8

23 x 27 x 47 / 19 / 23 / 9 x 4.8 = 35.6:1

This is assuming that when the 2 speed up front is in high, the transmission would be seeing the same speed as the motor. If I am wrong on any of this please feel to correct me, as I said before I am not too familiar with the quads.

Thanks for the info hope you don't mind a few more questions. What about with a 4440 two speed in front which would would be a direct and over drive? Then what about 4010 planetaries what is the multi factor for that.

Re: john deere trans. February 25, 2013 10:02PM
C4 with 4010 planetaries would be a ratio of 30.9:1. Sorry I do not know the ratio of the 4440 2 speed. If anyone knows the ratio of the 2 speed overdrive I could figure the ratio for you.

John Deere 2spd is 27% underdrive or 27% overdrive depending on application. It is of course direct when the direct clutch is engaged.
