I'm building a 540 ci DT motor. We are limited to 3250 rpms and an a pump. What are opinions on or not running, a main cap girdle? Thanks!

I have just what you need, 1992 IH Dt 466 truck block with steel hemi style main caps. Block has been line bored and ready to machine for your sleeve size. The block is a low mileage block and never used for pulling yet. The block is a roller lifter block. This is way better than those steel spacers and girdle !!!! You can check any main bearing without taking the girdle down !!!! If interested email me pullmx@hotmail.com

I think you are missing the point of a girdle its job is to tie the ENTIRE bottom end together spreading the forces out thru the main caps and oil pan rail, in no way shape or form is a single steel cap better than a girdle.

In answer to the original post, is it necessary no, good insurance definitely!

If its a hemi style it would be cross bolted similar to a Perkins 640. Don't believe any DTs were that way either way still not as good as a girdle
