Set it at 20 and try it....if you cant keep the turbo lit, keep bumping it 2 degrees until it does.

Stock is 17.5. I ran 32 in my truck.

If your running 22 now, then take it to 26 and that should be pretty close. I have several trucks that are running more fuel and 4000+rpm that are in the 30-40 range. There isnt a magic number out there. There are too many variables that play into it.

At 13.5 timing on a stock 215 hp 5.9 the rpms are 2700... im only 300 more at a 3000 limit would a good start be 16 to get heat into the turbo. doesnt more advancement create higher cylinder pressures. Goin to change it htis weekend lookin for a good place to start. THANKS

Advancing it does build more cylinder pressure. Are you rolling black smoke and struggling to get to 3000 goin down the track at 20 degrees? If so, then you need to keep advancing it. Retarding it will make it worse.

I run 30* of timing in my 5.9 and turbot 4200 and light a gt42 3x3 and can keep it light no problem. Fuel mods are custom built 5x18s and built 12mm pump
