oliver 1655-white 2-70 cummins flywheel and clutch July 23, 2013 10:04AM
Iam pondering the idea of doing a 6bt powered white 2-70 or 1655 and was wondering if anyone makes a sfi flywheel and multi disc clutch for these ? Seems to be a fairly easy swap from what I have read. I just wasn't sure what is available for clutches-flywheels.

I have been wondering..when you convert a 2-70 or 1655 to a 6bt you use a cummins sae # 3 bellhousing with the high mount starter. Could a dodge truck flywheel and clutch from say...southbend or someone be made to work ? Obviously you would have to change the centers on the discs to match the input shaft of the trans.

We used a steel flywheel from a pickup truck clutch setup with clutch disks setup for input shaft splines (cheap and good for over 500HP.) Easy to come by with a few custom parts, I had to custom make a ring gear work due to the difference in diameter of flywheel and had a custom built shaft to run from clutch to trans. with a coupling connecting them.
