Does anyone know the calculation for holset cm housing to a/r Im needing a turbo with the equivalent exhaust housing of an hx82 36cm housing. I found a turbonetics and it has a 1.70 a/r just wondering if its close enough

You can't directly convert. The cm that Holset and some others use is the area in centimeters². A/R is Area / Radius where A is the area of the opening & R is the radius is to the center of the area. I believe these measurements would be taken at the point where the slot from the scroll to the wheel starts. If you want to get in the ballpark you can lay a ruler or tape on your Holset housing and guess on the radius to the center of the housing. Be sure to measure in or convert to centimeters.

I know theyre not a direct cross between holset and a/r. I'm just looking for an idea if I go to a garret or borg charger.
