IH engine September 12, 2013 06:56AM
If you took a 414 and put a 466 crank in it, roughly how many cubes would it have? If you had a 436 and put a 466 crank in it, roughly how many cubes would it have?
I know that i would have to cut the pistons.
Thanks, Mike

The answer to both questions is 466. 414 stroke- 4.750 436 stroke- 5.004 466 stroke- 5.350 Stock 400 series bore 4.300
Cubic inch displacement is figured by this equation Bore X Bore X Stroke X.7854 X number of cylinders = CID
Example 4.3 X4.3 X5.350 X .7854 X6 =466.157
roughly1/2 the difference in stroke would have to be removed from the piston

No need to modify your pistons, merely get a 466 crank and a 466 OH kit. It really is that simple!

More than a few have changed to a 466 crank and installed used truck pistons with new rings to keep the cost down.
