What would it take to put a d312 into a 460. Would wanna keep it light using a 460 instead of a 560 with a bunch of aluminum. Did the 312 only come in the 666 tractors? Was there a bus 312 engine?

The 312 was only avalable in the 666-early 686 tractors. The 360 ag engine was in the 766-886 tractors and the 360 truck engine was in MANY busses, garbage trucks etc. the 300 series engine has been swapped into 460-560s many times. You need the engine mounting plates from a 666.

Just an idea at this point and time. Have a tractor in mind to put one in. Wanna stay with the 312 if possible. Don't need to be breaking stuff lol.

I assume that you are going to leave the 312 NA? Do you run in a limited RPM class also? Is it a speed limit class?

I would like to lower compression and put a small charger on. Nothing big. Keep it drivable. If I did it I would run it mainly on blacktop against our mod. 8 mph anywhere from 5500-6200.

Just so you know it is possible to use a 03-07 Cummins 5.9 manifold for your 312. It will take some port alignment and bolt hole adjustment. You can use a ATS or BD aftermarket slip fit manifold or find some kid that changed his stock man for a aftermarket one. Should be able to pick one up for near free. I have one on my shelf in the secret bunker.. The 300 series IH turbo tractor turbo manifolds are VERY VERY rare. The Cummins manifold will allow you to use a Dodge Holset HX turbo on your IH. they actually work quite well in that application
