IH 706 chassis

I'm looking at building a 6200lbs limited light super. I want to use a 706 rear end because a 656 looks way to small and not strong enough. Has anyone ever got a 706 chassis that light? |

In the class

The 666/656 or 560 rears hold up well in that class, you are going
To have a lot of time and money tied up trying to get that lite enough |

Keith I hope you don't build light tractors like you do hot farm tractors. You sold one to a guy in Iowa that was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. I don't see how you can call yourself a builder. If that was my tractor I would've dropped it off in your front yard for you to put Christmas lights on it. You should be ashamed!! Curt |

I know of several tractors that are that light with 706 rears. 2 for sure that are running 400 series engines pulling LSS at #6000 with 200 of movable weight |

If the class you want run in allows it, I would mate a 656 rear to a 400 series engine. With a few better parts a 656 type rear will hold up just fine in a llss class. I know of several that have ran 3 and 4 charger setups through these rear ends in the past. If interested feel free to give me a call. 656 is fine

A well built 656 rear can handle some serious power. Much more than you (or anyone else) will make in LLSS |

I run a 656 rear end, and we are putting out just under 2000 HP. No problems with the rear end! |

what are you using for a clutch with that power? do you still use the T/A housing with the 11" clutch? thanks |

I have a 4 disk growler, had to do a little machine work to the housing. Not using a T/A. George made me gears for the tranie about 4 or 5 years ago, have 3 to pick from. Works really well for my application. |

I plan to run a 310 German diesel in the chassis. And I had a 656 reared but we didn't feel comfortable with it. Along with the fact that if we decide to stop pulling we could sell the tractor as a rolling chassis for a lot more classes. |

How much horse power would a 656 rear end hold up to? And how much do you think a 706 would hold up to? |
Re: IH 706 chassis

706 style rearends have been used in every style of tractor all the way up to 4 charger supers before components came along. 706 are still in use in all cast tractor classes ie superfarm and 4.1 limited pro |
