Allison Team question April 12, 2022 02:15PM
I believe Doug Bend has one of the Allison Team tractors (I assume the one driven by Bob Bend).

Whatever happened to it's identical twin driven by Fred Mende? Is it in a barn somewhere? Parted Out?
Just curious.

Here is an article that you might want to read but it's not an answer to your question.

Not to get off topic but my father in law has a 1/16 replica of Bends Allison tractor does anyone know how many of those were made? I have never seen another one but he claims that the auction had two the one he bought was out of the box the other came with the original box.

There were 400 of the 1/16 scale Allison Team tractors made and 750 1/64th scale.

The G1000 Allison is restored and lives in the Amboy IL area

Isn't that Bill Newlon's tractor.

Bill Newlon has nothing to do with the Allison Team tractors. Both were from Illinois and both ran MM sheet metal, but two different teams.
As you said, Newlon ran G-1000 sheet metal.

The two Allison Team tractors ran UB sheet metal (except in 1969 for one of them). Both looked nearly identical. I'm asking about the 2nd UB tractor.
Doug Bend has restored and pulled one of them. My question is whatever became of the other one.

The 1985 NTPA story says the Bend family has one UB and that the other UB thats shown yearly at Bowling Green is at Harold Bostons place..Harold Boston passed in 2007 but surely the 2nd tractor is still around??

Just got off the phone with Fred Mende who is an original member of the Allison Team. The second Allison tractor is in a barn at Bill Wade's at Waterman, Illinois. Bill was also an original member of the Team and as Fred said was the Brains and the machinist behind the Allison Team.
