What is the gear ratio guys are running in 6000-7000lb diesel tractors 466cu with 3x3 charger, 24.5tires open rpms? I have heard anywhere between 20 to 28. |

Between 20 and 28, depending on set up. |

466 3x3 turbo at 6000lb you better be thinking more around 16 to 17-1. a lot of good running 466s running 10 & 11000 pulling 18-1 gears. |
Re: Gear Ratio

think again

A 466 3by3 will not 16to1 at 6000. The guys that are running 600 plus with a 4.1 charger are running a 16to1 at 6000. |

640 with a 4.1 at 6200 will run faster than a 15:1 if everything is set up right. They will also compete at 17:1 if you are willing and able to run the rpm's. It is a lot more complicated than just picking a ratio and running it. Whatever it takes to get the most tire speed will usually be the best bet.
High rpm's with a little lower ratio or a little lower rpm's with a higher ratio. Or better yet build the horsepower to run the high rpm's with the fast ratio :-) |

just sayin

3 by 4 is a lot different than a 3 by 3. By the way 466 puller you are dreaming a 466 with a 3 by 3 will not turn 6000 rpms and if it does check your tach. |

It kind of depends on what you are running against. If you are running in an open or light super class the sled will be set tighter, not allowing a tall gear. If your rules only allow tractors like you described in your post I would think you would be able to turn from 21-18 to 1
To non believer: You are entitled to your opinion but the Hart's turbo does make good power and will compete with any 3x4 currently on the market regardless who built it. |

I hate to be the one to tell you mr think again but yes you can run 16-1 at 6000lb with a 466 just like Lss said it all depends how many rpm you are turning. Keep your rpm a little lower and you can turn a pretty tall gear, it all depends on how your engine is set up to run. If you try to turn 6000 rpm plus then yes you're probably not going to run them gears but turn 4500 with the right setup and you can. |

been their

throdelup466puller you had better start with a20.1 for high a coupel gears slower 466puller must be pulling in the sand if you want to run 15 .1 you had better bolt on another charger |

We have ran at 17.6 to 1 at 6500lb no problem with a 3x4 charger 466ci, unlimited rpm, just depends on the track. |

Actually, there are some guys in Xcaliber in Missouri running harts 3x3 turbo instead of a 3x4 in the 8500 lim pro class, and winning. And according to Harts Diesel, their new 3x3 turbo puts 40 to 60 hp on their 3x4 turbo, so there is little, if any difference anymore Edited 1 time(s). next year

Next year you can buy a 3by3 that puts 800 horse on a 4.1. It is new and it will be out next year for an extra 20,000 you can have it. |

how about you just buy a precision 3X3 for less money and it has a one year warranty? i wouldnt trust a word the hart boys say. i had the oppurtunity to compare a precison 3X3 and a new harts 3X3, the intake wheels are identical. all they did was copy precisons intake wheel and added 10 maybe 15 thousandths to the wheel base to make it thicker. thats it. still beleive they make that much more hp? then hand me ur money and i will sell you a new harts 3X3 and go buy me a precison. i dont know for how many years branndon hart said garret turbos will never hold. has to be a holsit to be any good. then precision was smoking his holsits so he had to jump on their band wagon. and good luck getting one in a years time. the way those guys drink mountain dew and smoke ciggs all day, its a wonder they get anything done. |

Limproinmo--what is your tire size? 17.6-1 @6200 would be hauling arse. |

we run 24.5's, and yes, you get up and go. Biggest problem we have is staying off the wheeley bars since we normally run the 85 lim pro and can only put 250lb on the nose running in 6500lss. And I did not mean for this to turn this into a Hart's bashing thread. They have always worked with us and treated us fairly |

To non beleiver you must not go to a dyno because I ran a 3x3 precision vs the 3x3 harts on a 466 Deere and the harts blew it away from top to bottom!! In badger state if you did not have a hart turbo you never had to worry about winning any pulls! |

Just an observation, I think some of you are confusing weight and RPMs. No way a 466 turns 6000 RPMs with a 3X3 charger. |
