Dry Block and head February 21, 2023 10:40PM
What are the Pro's and Con's of running a dry block and head? Does the head need to be filled?

Yes fill the head and leave the block open. You will need an oil heater. Pros NO water issues Con can't run motor as long

Get a leaf blower or 2 in case you need to cool it down quick for a 2nd run with a sled reset or pull-off.

Have run dry block and head for 6 years, head is not filled, pop out the freeze plugs. Use Leaf blower to do quick cool down , we do run an enter cooler.

We have ran a dry block for 6 yrs, head is not filled, altered/hot farm class. It does take us about 45 min to get the block cooled down to a manageable temp in 80 deg. outdoor temps with leaf blowers. We do spray about 3/4 of a gallon of water to help keep the turbo from melting down.

Where do you spray the water?
