I am planning on using a 7000 rearend and 24.5x32 tires. The engine i have is a 401 truck engine with a p-pump. Plan on runnig 6500# and 3x4 turbo? Now i know very little about ford stuff. I need information on what stock parts are strong enough and what parts need to be replaced in engine and transmission. Also would like to know who has the best transmission and engine parts. Thanks for any help! Ford Fever |

A great place to start is to call down to Forresters (717) 263-0705 and talk to Jason, Corey or Curt.
You can see some pictures of their work here [www.facebook.com] Can you run a cooler with a 401? |

go with a 5000 or 4000 rearend a 4000 is better we put a profab trannsmission in ours also the rods crank pistons are all fine to run to aafter they have been checked an balanced we run stock crank an rods an cut the valve release for the pistons. good headwork an good fuel an air an your ready to go a CDS or HARTS 13mm p pump and ether 5x22-5x25 injectors an a hx60 from ether one is great. some things we run aftermarket are the pushrods and rockers. frozen boost makes a great intercooler also. we get our head gasket fire rings ect at GMS. |

I have my front cover off right now. I will try to take a few pictures of it this wkend and post them for you, as you should be able to reproduce it. Sounds like you have received some good advice so far. I would definitely run a a cooler and a 13 mm p pump. Where are you located? |

Does the 401 truck motor use flat tappet lifters ? Will the lifters hold up ? Also will the stock rocker arms work ? |

Yes the stock cam will work fine, you want to make sure you have a motor with a crank drive oil pump instead of a cam driven one as they are weak in the drive shaft and will twist off or round out. |

I believe all the truck engines did, engines that was produced 1979 and later have the crank driven oil pump. where at in Ohio you located? We are in north central Ohio, have one llss and building another. Sure hope they can get these classes a rolling here as its a very good class to have fun in. FFP only have two on there schedule so far and was talk of cotpa to start to carry the llss some. |
