The 4010 also has 2 different sets of axel housings the lighter set is supposed to be around 100lbs lighter, just depends on how light you are looking to go. |

I've heard that you have to measure how thick it is at the front of the axle housing but never got the measurements to be able to check. |

Sorry, forgot to post that. Lighter housing is 1 3/8" wide, heavy housing 1 5/8" wide, measured at where it bolts to transmission housing |

I found a 4020 I'm interested in buying to pull in a field farm class for now and collect parts to make it into a llss but don't want to screw myself if it's just going to be too heavy. |

4020 just a little heavier . 4010 has 3 1/8 dia axles , 20 has 3 3/8 dia . little wider planetaries , 4010 HAS planetaries . Not positive but 4010 , 3010 , 3020 and 4000's ? are pretty similar axle dia etc . The 3 3/8 dia is 4020-4320 - 4430 size except for some later 44's with long axles . |

Been 25 years ago, so this might be messed up.
I helped with a 3010 back half to a 4020 front half. Am I remembering correctly, a 3010/ 4010 have a lighter duty PTO and hydraulics? The big deal back then (farm class) was a top cover off a standard (wheatland) and a narrow front of a little MT. We had some running around with out a starter and batteries, roll start it down the ramps. |
