8.1L head on a 40 series 466 DEERE

Hello gents, I am contumplating the thought of putting an 8.1 head on my 40 series JD 466 engine, any Idea if I will run into any problems? is it worth doing? how bout if I just stuck the whole dang motor in there, much advantage? let me know what you all think about it all input is greatly appreciated thanks |

Just put the 8.1 in. You will have 30 more cubes and can go to 540 real easy. |

Bigger sleeves and pistons slide right into the 8.1 block to get you to 540 without any boring or machine work. If you wanted to put in new stock size pistons it is the same price for the bigger bore motor. Call Mike at 715- 781- 3687 if you want some advise. He built our first motor this way. |

Depends on what your class is? More than likely you are probably pulling in a 466 cu. class and by changing the engine at least where I come from would be refered to as cheating. That is why we have a 466 class. it eliminates most colors but allows 2 brands to do whatever they want and there must be a secret handshake that i haven't learned yet because once you are in that clique everyone gets along and forgets about the rules |
