1800hp in 850cc of fuel May 02, 2014 06:35AM
I was told today that someone made 1800hp fuel only from a 6.7l cummins with only 850 ccs of fuel. Is this the most efficient engine in the world or what. The highest estimate I've ever head was 1.8hp per cc of fuel and this is over 2.1hp per cc. Is this actually possible????

I forgot to mention that this is a Mechanical injection engine with a p7100 pump. I am assuming 24 valve head.

Formula 1 engines make about 9 hp per cubic inch, and spin huge turbochargers. Anything is possible if you can move enough air. Most rumors about diesels making high hp numbers are just that, rumors. You can get a dyno to read the wall street journal with the right guy running it. Smoke is wasted energy and space.

You guys are not on the same page,cc of fuel, has nothing to do with cc of engine size. Horsepower numbers bring big money, but when a lesser output engine whoops one with a dyno sheet that is six figures,my ole farm boy head is a wonderi'n ????????????

If you would think,,,,,,,,, we are, somewhat on the same page. The most exotic engines on this planet make 9-10 hp per cu in of displacement. If those 6.7 numbers were to be considered accurate, which I don't believe they are, that 6.7L would be 4.4 hp per cu in displacement. That's pushing reality a little too far. This may have little meaning to those that can only relate to cc's of fuel, but it's all relative. When you start bragging about 5 hp per cu in your reaching the edge of fantasy land.

Somebody needs to get their dyno checked. 6.7,5.9 with a cast head is not going to make that kind of horses. I deal with real dyno numbers in realville. I know what a average to strong running limited pro makes for horses. They are 640 cubes to. I am sure some of you think I'm a keyboard puller, but I live in realville . You cumnut guys need to calibrate your dyno's.

Dyno numbers don't win pulls.

you would need more info to know if it were possible or not one thing to consider is a difference in rpm an 1800 hp engine at 6500 rpms with 1450# torque and an 1800 hp engine at 4000 rpms with 2400# torque. if you can turn and engine fast combust the fuel maybe ???. we are no experts our only experience has been it takes fuel to make torque. I would want to see it with my own eyes but who would have guessed 10 years ago you would drive a pick up around on the the street with 500 hp?? that is more horsepower than most tractor trailer trucks but big difference in torque numbers.

Torque is what does the work, horse power just turns it,torque keeps it going.
