We had a head stud come loose last night. When we went to torque the head it pulled the threads in the block, how can we fix this?

Option 1 helicoil
Best option new block

A step up from a heli-coil is a Key insert (aka Keensert).

Depending on the amount of material that you can drill out, you can put a thicker wall insert in. These tend to be stronger than a standard heli-coil.

I have used them for several fixes and have not had any substantial problems with them. I install them with the Loctite 271 (red in color, not blue)

Check out Full-Torque inserts. Not cheap but a very good product.
