Massey Ferguson Rear End August 29, 2014 03:12PM
I am looking into stepping up into the llss class and would like to run a Massey ferguson. I would be running at some pulls 6000lb, what rear end would be strong enough and light enough for that type of tractor. The 1100 rear looks to be heavy and don't know if the smaller rear ends with the planetary on the end of the axel would hold up. Any help would be appreciated!

1100 will work, with all necessary casting on outside removed.

I have a 275 and a 175, I am almost positive the 275 could take all you want at that weight or I also have a 1100 took apart that has pulled light super and light limited, currently legal for Mtpa and Mspa light limited will sell the whole unit or just what you want from it. Good luck on your pursuit.

if you go with the smaller rear end use one out of a 398 or 399 they have stronger outer planitaires than the other tractors i,e 396, 383, 375, 285, 275

What engine would work best for this? Susi? Perkins? Could you run a cummins in it?

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 04:45AM
I got a 466 navistar with bell housing steal fly wheel and pistons ready to bolt up to that 1130 he should have some good sheet metal

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 04:55AM
Would the NAVSTAR engine work in a Massey?

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 05:09AM
Yes its already be proven a Illinois tractor

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 05:52AM
I didn't know that Agco put the NAVSTAR in the Massey. Is there just a 466 or did they make a smaller one like the 360 too? How hard are these engines to find?

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 06:07AM
Yes it was experimental with Massey the 466 was Perkins/nav I got paper work at home showing it was in agco

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 02, 2014 06:47AM
So no 360? I'm not sure a 466 and 1100 rear could get to 6000lbs

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 03, 2014 03:48AM
a massey in Ill with v8 640 got under 5000

Re: Massey Ferguson Rear End September 04, 2014 04:20AM
