Ok guys i need some help. I have a 5010 with a 531 block that i am looking to put a p-pump on. The block originally had a roosamaster on it,and i need a way to bore the pump shaft hole out from 1 1/4 inches out to 3 3/4 inches without removing the block from the tractor. any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thinking out loud...
Take the head off a boring or milling machine & figure out a way to bolt it to the front of the engine. That's probably as much work as pulling the block & stripping it down though... I think I recall seeing 'portable mills' in a trade magazine once designed for repairing machine equipment in place. If you have any friends in machinery maintanance you could check with them. |

take a big handgrinder and grind block smooth. use a small strait edge to do this. then get a hole saw with a center bit to pilot off of of the old hole. I did this years ago to save money. Oh I also had to use a spacer between the block and pump to get the pump gear to line up.
