How much hp can you get out of a John deere 466 3000 10mm a pump 3lm-466 out of the box. No water or intercooler. Had a lot of people tell me different answers. |

I'm assuming that it is a stock a pump with stock lines and injectors also with a stock head. What size inlet is on the 3lm 466. With a good pump and injectors and head you should be pushing 650 to 700 and that's with a small 3lm 466. |

Synchro road gear will hold for awhile, have a few in my area running near the 600-800 range. High range pinion will be the first to surrender to the hp. ones in a 4320 other is a 4240. |

ALL 3LM466 turbos have a 2.3" inlet, that is the way Schweitzer made all of them. Sometimes people change the wheel, but then it isn't a 3LM466 anymore. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466
|
No way
|
He's talking about a non-modified box 3LM. A 2.33" inlet. No machined housing, no wheel changes.
Green 466 with the right cam and injectors 450-475 hp, although most you see are in that 400 range. Red 466, over 500 hp if you know what you are doing. |

So how much horsepower does it take to run road gear out of a 466 green or red one at 11000 lbs. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466

good luck
|
Road gear weighing 11000lbs? Outta a 466? Mercy sakes. Depending on tires your running. 1000hp+ |

I have seen road gear at 11,000 with 18.4xR38 BFG's done with a rotary pump and a box 3lm. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466

With that setup he must have been pulling either a broken sled or a Garden Tractor sled. Road Gear is a Hot Farm or Pro Farm set-up. Tractor like he is talking normally is High 2 or 3 Gear with a good sled. |

Will a 4430 syncro stay together pulling road gear with that much power |
Re: 3000 rpm 466

To better think twice
|
Not to be argumentative, just asking Is that with a box stock 2.3 3lm466?
Also sled and setting will allow just about whatever track speed they want. |

You can get a rotary pump to flow 500+ cc of fuel which is what a 10 mil A pump will do so you are really running the same fuel and air, why wouldn't you be able to get as much power, making it possible to run road? |

Try diesel werx in Brookings, SD. They'll set you right up. Or Ament repair down in Fairly, IA. Both shops sell EXACTLY what you're looking for buddy. |

There are couple green ones and a blue in ky that run road gear in 11000 and 13000 lbs with 2.3 charger at 2600 rpm. |

They must not have much of a sled behind them.
As far syncro holding road gear. I've had a quad hold road gear. Ran it for a year only, went to 3 speed |

Maybe there is a little difference in what everybody thinks about running road gear. You can run road gear in any tractor, you just might not get anywhere and won't have the power at the end. For what it is worth we have a deere 466, stock out of the box 3lm-466 turbo, no water, 10 mil A-pump and run over road gear and spin out. |

If you go to John Murray's YouTube channel let's go pulling you can see the tractors that better think twi e is talking about. There are some pretty good running Deere's and one Ford that is strong. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466

we are running a 856 in roadgear upto 13000 in farm stock classes and spinning out pulling the red rock sled |

truth be told, any tractor, even a 300 horse tractor can spin out in road gear if their hitch is only 10 inches high. seen this on a lot of the henry county tractors, hence the reason they have no weight up front on their tractors. low hitch=less bite on the track. and slipping the clutch for 250 feet is not considered running road gear.. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466
|
Spinning out in road gear with 856 and 3lm on Red Rock sled at 13000, will have to call Gary and see what tractor this is, I know he will remember it. |
Re: 3000 rpm 466

I feel really stupid that we can only turn 2 over road at 9500lbs with 1200hp, could you guys help me out? If my math is correct I should be able to run at least 6 over (36% overdrive) with double the power and 3500lbs lighter?
Apparently I should take my P 7100 and 3 x 4 off and put on a rotary and 3lm... |

Pulling road gear hp question is about the same as the age old question of how many bottoms can my 1066 pull.
Soil, plow, and conditions are just like sled and track. To many variable for that question. |

Who cares if you can pull road gear and spin it out if you spin it out at 30 feet behind the rest of the class. This thread is alot like the coffee shop when farmers start to speak of yeilds all the feilds making 290 and 300 BPA.
You know what the difference is between a DC10 and farmer The DC10 quits whining when it gets to Florida Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/08/2014 01:21AM by Frantic crew. |

sorry help 450 is a pretty good mark I think but as any tractor there are still things that will help. Intake and head work may give you more |
