Divide the driven by the driver. Numerically higher the number = lower the gear. |

ring gear divided by pinion = ratio, 49/12=4.08, 51/13=3.92, 49/13=3.76, the lower the number, numerically, the faster the ratio, at direct drive, the ring and pinion ratio x the bull gear ratio, around 5:1 in a 706, would be 4.08 x 5=20.4 , a 1566 ring and pinion is like a 3.08 x 5(in a 706 or non 1566 rear)=15.4, a pretty steep gearset. Check the teeth counts in a parts book for the exact ratio inside of the bull gear reduction, might be a 12/66, which would be a 5.5, rather than 5. |
