Going to build a 9600 ford, Will all of the 456 heads work right on the 401 block. And will the air intake and exhaust off the 401 bolt right up, or do you have to have everything off the 456.

If i am not mistaken all the bolt holes are in the same location, only the ports are shaped differently between the two. your 9600 head bolts will be 1/2" while the genises will have 9/16" bolts,may need special alignment dowels on the corners,not sure which head gasket works best for sealing the water jacket holes-I use the tm-120 head gasket with strategically placed high temp silicone. your inlet and outlet ports will line up but won't match very well,guess you could build em up with more material and then port them to match the head. lots of work! easier to use 456 manifolds if your rule allow! also you must take a bit off the front to clear the water pump. good luck!

I'M THINKING OF DOING THE SAME BUT WILL 456 MANIFOLD INTERFERE WITH SIMS PUMP POSITION?

I RUN A 401 WITH A 456 HEAD AND MANIFOLDS WITH AND A PUMP THE SIMS WILL FIT OK

What classes do you pull in and what part of the country. I'm assuming that you our running a 8000-9000 or 8600-9600 ford. What type of turbo do you run. Would like to talk by phone if you don't mind. What your number.
