NA IH 414 Horsepower November 29, 2014 04:13AM
Considering putting a 414 diesel in our 460 in place of the 301 @390 ci for 7000 na open rpm farm stock class. What does it take to make a 414 run? What horsepower should be expected if built properly? Thanks In advance

Be lots easier to put in a 560 than a 460!

dont understand farm stock with a 414 not the correct ih family 6 cylinder. Why not forget the 460, get a tube frame and planetaries.

Any engine that matches manufacturer 420 ci or less farm stock no diesel/ gas conversions naturally aspirated.Wanting to look at other engine options that will live longer and make better hp. Than 301 dry blocked and stroked.

I would strongly consider another brand but if your hung up on ih, a 414 should be capable of close to 200 plus if done right. How about decubing a 451rd motor I would think this would be ideal for your 460. Ain't is amazing how many people can't answer the question. I would prefer a MM or my next bet would a sisu in a agco. My first choice given your parameters is a Ford but since you can't convert the engines a 4010 gasser would be on the list and one other is a case which has a good gas combination. I don't see a dsl being your ideal choice given the parameters.

If diesel, how 'bout the 360 from a 666/686? The gas version at that time was, I'm asking, 312? If so, what is the difference between that block and the 301?

Get a RD 401 same stroke as the rd 450 just smaller bore. just bore it .060 over and you will have 412 cubic in and it will last forever and make good power
