Pinion Shaft Shimming March 10, 2015 01:40PM
I'm putting in a 12/49 ring and pinion in a 1066. The ring and the pinion that I have are both marked with a C-47 and no other numbers. In my 1066 service manual there is the look-up table that references the 2-digit number on the gears and tells the proper clearance measurement to shoot for using the service tool to get the right number of shims on the pinion shaft. My problem is that the table in the manual starts at 60 and my gears say 47. Does anybody know what clearance measurement I need to shoot for? Would a service manual from a tractor that actually came with a 12/49 have a different table?
