Tricks on drying up an I-H 466 April 01, 2015 09:20AM
Looking at running a dry block this year what tricks go along with it? Piston skirt clearance? Frost plugs in or out? Best way to cool for 2nd run or pulloff?

Loosen up valve guides if head is dry too, open up skirt clearance, maybe coat the skirts, open up your ring gaps. And run high quality oil and bigger pan to hold more since that is your only heat sink.

And if you want to cool it between runs your best option is to put new oil in. You can run blowers and such on it and time helps, but it the oil in your pan is holding a lot of heat and it will not cool much from sitting or a blower between runs.
