Sleeve Clearance April 07, 2015 01:46PM
I am sending my motor out to get bored for new sleeves this week and was wondering what most people use for block to sleeve clearance. The sleeve manufacturer says .005" to me it seems excessive. It is on a alky so dry no coolant.

Thanks in advance.Smiling

.010 to .012 inches difference between piston width and bore diameter for dry block on alcohol.

Thanks Neil:

I actually was looking for outside of sleeve to block bore. I have been .005" just questioning it.

Depends on the wall thickness, and the tolerance they held on the outside diameter of the sleeve.

.188 Wall thickness and it seems pretty good top to bottom.

I would try to run about .002-.003 less if you can. April 09, 2015 07:43AM
