DT-466 with Allison 4-speed in 1979 Chevy K30 April 25, 2015 07:26AM
I'm told that if I put a DT-466 with, I assume, a AT 643 or 545 behind it, I'm looking at a really heavy setup and in which my leaf springs (once i get a 6-8in. lift kit) will eventually bend and my 6in. lift would then be a 2in. or even worse, my leaf spring would bend all the way down. Is there any company or alternative leaf spring that could hold up to such weight? I have a 1979 K30 (1-ton) Chevy, and I wouldn't mind a DT-360 but they are hard to find so I am stuck with what I can afford and what will work.

Thanks, God bless!

There was a one ton Chevy in mo. that had a 3208 cat in it. It had some leaf springs added across the front crossmember to the lower control arms on each side to help with weight. He had a pair of twin engine mods, don't think he towed both with it though.

Thanks! I will look into it. I seen a DT-466 in an F-250 on youtube, but I am not sure what he had though. I will keep y'all informed.

So I am going to buy a DT-360, but I will keep all this info for a future project truck.

Thanks, God bless.

They make a snow plow kit that will add extra leafs to front axle. Aslo they make shock with helper springs.
