Hitch height discrepancy

We have a competitor that often gets by with a hitch that is higher than the rules allow. The association does not seem to want to take the effort to check hitches when you back up to the sled. Is there a good way to approach this without ruffling feathers? |

It's a rule

Your next event make it know that all hitches will be checked on everyone not just some of them but everyone will be checked shouldn't have anything to bitch about then. After all its a rule. |

hitch height should be checked every night in every class. Everywhere I've ever been its done as the class is starting to line up right before or after they get on the scales, or while they're sitting on them. either the guy running the scales does it or another person helps. its the responsibility of the club to make sure weight, hitch, and safety are good to go before they get on the track. if you have doubts about it or something else afterwards then it goes to a protest. |

"Back in the day" As tractors staged next to go to the sled someone was standing there with a height fixture and slid it to the hitch. If it didn't meet height it was not allowed to hook. Usually hitch height was 1st checked on the scale as they weighed in but in some cases pulls ran "Certified Weight" so no weigh in, so the guy with the hitch fixture also did a quick count of weights hanging on the tractor. Everyone had to pass it so it was fair to every tractor that hooked.

If this guy is a buddy of yours I would try and follow him to the scales and nonchalantly walk up with the measuring stick and say something like oh here's the hitch stick and hand it to him. If he isn't well then I don't think your going to get the point across without ruffling some feathers but sometimes that's what it takes to wake people up to the fact rules are there to be followed by all those involved. |

go to tech officials, see if you can not get them to check ALL tractors when they are pulled OFF the track. |

i dont see how hitches go unchecked no matter the association it sounds like this puller has something on the association or something if hes not being checked every successful event has a enforcer someone not bothered to be the ----hole in enforcing the rulles thats a whole other problem that we have to label someone a ---hole when they have to bark at pullers to be within the rules and kick them off the track if theyre illegal like a bunch of school kids you give them an inch they end up running the scool but if you have a fair honest and hard nosed principal theres still some griping but no one gets an undue advantage and down the road everyon is happyer |

This job needs to be taken care of by the event promoter, or someone in the club, but the tech officials do not have time to be the hitch height checkers.
Can't check them right on the track. Be in the way of track prep. Need all hitches checked in same place, by same person for the whole class. |
