using 414 crank in 466 lim pro class and run higher rpm any one tried it June 03, 2015 02:10PM
i currently run a typical 466 ih motor in a 8500 lim pro tractor looking to build second motor and want to possibly try something different heard of guys running a 414 crank and only 452 cubes area or a few less cubes than 466 but run higher rpm and have had good luck with this looking for any thoughts or experience with this combo will it compare to typical 466 or bad idea thanks

Well...... I had one for awhile. It didnt lug very well , gave up torque with the shorter stroke.

ya thats kinda what i thought might happen guess on loose tracks would be ok but otherwise probably not worth trying

I should clarify ............... It was 414=4.75 stroke with a bigger bore to keep it at 466 cube BUT was on a 3x3 GT42 . Now if I coulda run a bigger charger that may have changed the game some. It did run pretty good and when you had the rpms upstairs it went like a scalded dog. On a tough track that was tougher to do.

we can run a 3x4 charger but lot of our tracks are tougher only a couple are mostly lime and can run our higher gears

I believe Cody Shay ran a shorter stroke in his 8500 limited pro. With a 3b4 charger. 1 advantage is you can use bigger valves.....
