jd 6030 Trans problems need help August 23, 2015 06:20AM
Who or what can I do to keep the budget down but do the job right like I font wanna cut corners but who's reasonable on freeing up some power in my 4 speed urns Trans and final drives? With the the tractor jacked up with the tires off I can hardly turn the axles in N I all ready put more shims in and didn't torque them doen as much it seemed to help quite a bit but my friends IH super farm spins easy!!!! I have the hp and torque but I believe it's dragging me down or slowing me down and probably losing at least 50 hp!

Do you still have the internal brakes? Those can cause a lot of drag. Another big thing is to change your 4 speed to a 3 speed. Actually your 4 speed still has 6 gears doesnt it? If it does those pit gears are robbing a lot of power. I do realize that they are nice for moving around in the pits and loading but you have to sacrifice them if you really want to free up the lost power. All this will help but I dont think it will ever turn as easy as an international. Those big block deeres are just massive and they take power to turn all that mass.

I'm selling my front axle with rails and sheet metal I'm gonna sell my 6030 sheet metal I also am selling 4555 sheet metal it will be about month before I sell but I will be flexible on the price

Do you have a full needled diff? I have done some Big Deeres and with a full needled diff you can grab the axle and turn it with your hands with both sides jacked off the ground. Without you either need a wheel on or a big strap wrench.
