FREE WILL DONATION AT THE GATE Our Recipient this year is Logan Gostovich: Logan Gostovich is a 9-year-old 4th-grader from Somerset Elementary School. He is the son of Scott and Beckie Gostovich and a big brother to Riley. After Logan was born he was soon diagnosed with “left hemiplegic cerebral palsy.” Hemiplegic is a form of cerebral palsy that affects one arm and leg on the same side of the body. For most children with hemiplegic the arm is more involved than the leg and the end of the limbs have more problems. For Logan, he has come accustomed to strength and use on his right side and his “helper hand” is in position when needed. Logan’s most recent surgery was June 4, 2015, where the hardware in both left hip and shin were removed. Also at that time, the hardware in his right shin had to be removed, his shin bone was recut and hardware replaced along with cadaver bones structuring arches in both his feet. Logan wears special orthotics daily and is going through extensive physical therapy to keep muscles moving and mobile. He reads, watches and dreams of the life as a superhero from the Marvel Comic books. Thru various stages of his life, Logan and his family have learned to spend each day understanding, listening, learning and praying for continuous growth and strength for Logan. New answers are found and more questions to the unknown arise. All funds raised will be used to help cover medical and therapy expenses as well as giving Logan the opportunity to live his life, as that superhero he knows he is. Something new this year in 5500 Memorial Class: As in years past there will still be a traveling plaque going to the winner for one year. Other years 100.00 had been donated for this particular memorial class for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. To change things up this year and hope that more will enter on the chance of winning some CA$H, a random drawing will be held from all contestants in the 5500 Memorial Class. It will be awarded to one individual from the entire class! Enter...take a chance!! |
