best tire sharpener in midwest? September 21, 2015 03:13AM
i pull here in missouri and am willing to drive a pretty good ways to get my tires sharpened. who in everyones opinion is the best tire sharpener and what do they charge? seems to me you can walk around and see a huge difference between one set and another.. also do the tires need to be hardened when this is done? thanks

I heard Mark Wiese does all the cutting and all Hawthorn does is cook them.

Your right he is the main cutter as of now.The second machine is going in so we will have two cutters.Hawthorn/Wise is the same.Doesn't matter who you call.All of the tires ready to go,Hardening,Aluminum wheels,mounting,chrome,tubes,and mounting kits are at the Monticello location.All of the cutting will still be done at the Freeport location as of now.Planning on moving it all to Monticello in the future.

Thats why the other machine is going in so I can when I have time.Maybe we should change our name to Hawthorn/Wise Tire and then it won't matter.Its funny for all these years other cutters that are mentioned on this thread have brought tires down to Wise.Guess they aren't cutters either then.This winter there will be three cutters in our operation.And someday all in the same building.Wise is one of the best in the business.I'm just lucky I got to learn from him as he has learned from me.But as far as the thread yes Wise is the man.

I would suggest going to someone that you know and respect who is winning and ask where they are getting there tires cut. I wouldn't get on here and ask because you will get all kinds of answers especially from someone who might be losing business to someone else. They may have even started the thread. Find a winner and ask him or her
