What class of single engine mods are you having at Laporte? I thought it was a Hoosier State Pull. Did they bring back their 6000lb single engine class?

When we talked with them, we said if you are going to do this you will need to get the contract and the insurance money back to us ASAP. After three weeks we still had not gotten anything. It was 3 weeks before this event. You can not put a pull onto the scedule and expect your competitors to be there and ready for it. Maybe next year.

As of today we do not have a contract either. No response lately, wait and see , 6 mod tractors from W. I.

You probably could have contacted the indiana mod pullers to see if they would have been interested. www.indmpa.com. They have around 10 tractors that normally show up. What are the rules for the mod class you are having?

Now we know why NTPA pulled the plug on this one sounds like they have a hard time sending back the contracts, I also see on their web site they are still showing it as a HSTPA pull and it is not.

They called us also about 3 weeks ago, our group has 6 tractors ready but no contract as yet. Our rules allow 1 blown motor up to 575 c. i. 1 turbine or 1100 c.i. na, rollcage 30.5 firesuit ect. Still hope it happens.....

Maybe the indiana mods should step up to blower's, planetary rear-ends, maybe even twin engine's. They put on a good show now, but I think that would be a more exciting show

modfan thanks for the good words. Our rules are locked in for 3 years. I doubt any of those things will get changed after that though. We are still trying to keep the cost down best as we can. As for the Laporte show we were not contacted.

Our pulls are mainly southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, we have about 20 pulls a year. 1800 dollar purse pay 10 places . I agree with Richard. Our group is very competitive and we're trying to keep it that way. Most of the tractors in our group are getting just about everything they can out of their tractors. As far as an economy modified, there's no such thing, but we do try to hold the cost down by having very strict rules, and we follow them.
As far as the La Porte pull goes, if we'd been contacted, many of us would have been willing to come. Even I who is almost 200 miles away.
I live the furthest from the Indiana Modified Tractor Pullers Association pulling area, but they're a great group of individuals. I'll admit, it would be nice to only travel 50 miles or less to each pull. For some reason, fairs and festivals in southern Indiana either just aren't interested in the class, or possibly don't know that there are modifieds available.
As Richard said, our rules are locked in till 2011. Will there be changes at that time? Who knows. But I'll guess that there will be some reasonable thought put into any changes that might be made. Blown engines, planetary rearends? I'm doubtful, but who knows.
