Crankshaft Hardness and Grinding January 25, 2016 07:49AM
Hello all, I have a question regarding grinding an IH DT-466 crankshaft. First of all, I know many people say to only use a std./std. crank. This is my question, my crank has already been ground to .010/.010 and may need taken to .020 on the rods. Should I be concerned with this running in a hot farm type tractor class? My intuition says not to be worried, but if there is something I don't know about, then I was wondering if anyone has experience with this. Thanks for the help!

I run same crank in a 4.1 tractor at .010 and .020 on rods. 2300hp. No worries

People are takeing that crank down to 2 3/8 journal in the llss class offset destroking no problems and no hardening. Mine is 23/4 if I was planning on putting 6000 hours on it I would want it hardend
