What stroke and bore do most use for a 400 ih to achieve 540? |
Re: 540 stroke

466 crank and 4 5/8th bore |

Depends on the class. 4 7/8 bore with a 414 crank is another option... |

I think the ih 436 crank with a 4.750 bore would be a nice combination. |

436 stroke is 5.06
4.75x4.75x.7854x5.06x6=537.99702 |

I must have something wrong with my formula then because 4 5/8 bore x 466 crank stroke equals 471 cube and 4 7/8 bore x 414 crank equals 466 cube. I am using .7854. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my formula please |
Re: 540 stroke

Bore X Bore X .7854 X stroke X 6=CI |

Another example of why my formula is off, because I take 4.75×436 stroke of 4.39 and I get 466 cubes. Obviously my formula must be off. My question is to make a 540 cube |

Accurate Volume
|
Volume of a cylinder is pie(r squared) x length. then multiply that by number of cylinders.
Bore = 4 5/8" Stroke = 5.315 2.3125 x 2.3125 x 3.14159 x 5.3125 x 6 = 535.76 c.i. |

Accurate Volume

I think the stroke is 5.35 instead of 5 5/16" so the c.i. is 539.28... |

My formula Is bad because I am using 466 crank stoke equals 4.68, 436 crank stroke equals 4.39 , and 414 crank stroke is 4.17.
Can someone tell me the correct stroke of those 3 cranks. I guess my source was incorrect |

IH Cranker
|
414 = 4.75 stroke
436 = 5.06 stroke 466 = 5.35 stroke |
