Langford 2016 Pull March 06, 2016 11:46AM
The Langford New Oregon Vol. Fire Dept. is happy to announce that we have our pull schedule in place for our August 7th, 2016 show celebrating 70 years of Pulling! As always we feel the need to offer our fans the best possible show so thanks to the co-operation of our friends with Empire State Pullers (ESP) and New York Tractor Pullers (NYTPA) we are all systems go on our plan for this years event. (We can't forget our friends at the WNYPPS too, but we'll get to them in a bit.)
If you want to see who is the best of the best SFS, TWD, MOD or HSS in the Region you will see it at Langford. In unique afternoon show starting at 12:00 noon, The best NYTPA and ESP Trucks and Tractors will go head to head as the 2 clubs will "share the track". There will be separate purses (AAA+) and points for each organization, but the classes will run blended together. If a competitor is a member of both organizations the will be eligible to receive points from both groups but will receive prize money from only 1 based on a random draw at entry. Non members of either group will also be assigned a club purse by draw at entry. This puts the clubs on the same track with the same sled to see who is the best. To sweeten the bounty, we are running an evening show or "Finals" that only the top finishers will be invited to. We are bring back the Top 4 if the class contains up to 10 competitors, Top 5 if the class has 11-15 competitors, 6 if the class has 16-20 competitors and 7 if the class has 20+. While there are no points for the Finals we are paying the following purse. 1- $800, 2-$500, 3-$375, 4-$325, 5-$275, 6-$250, 7-$225. This an invitational show so if one of the top finishers cannot pull we will move down the list.
Between the afternoon show and the Finals we will be offering 3 great classes of action. Immediately after the Shared track show we will run the WNYPPS Limited Light Super Stock class the includes the National LLSS tractors traveling the circuit. This is a colorful bunch of Tractors of all makes coming to Langford to put an a real show for our fans. If the track holds together we will run the LLSS and then re-work it, but that will be a game day decision.
For the evening we will be offering the ESP LSS and LPS Diesel 4x4 Trucks to get the show rolling. The show will conclude with the SFS, TWD, HSS and MOD Finals. We look forward to seeing you in Langford!
P.S. Let's not forget that you are all invited to come out to our Jamboree on the 6th from 4-11. The Jamboree is always a blast so come out and spend the night in the campground so you have your choice of seats for our GREAT SHOW!!
Watch our website & facebook page for details as they become available.

Wow, I really like the sounds of the new pull program. And so neat it is coming from one of the known very oldest continued pulls in the country. You guys and gals certainly staged a great show last year. Sounds even better for 2016. Whether you are a puller or a spectator, I highly recommend this pulling extravaganza. Even though I have not experienced the Jamboree, I heard nothing but great comments about it. Kudos to a highly sucessful 70th. My 2015 Langford pulling photos are still on my website.

hopefully you have a plan to keep the track consistent or your " best of the best" will be the ones hooking before your not so consistent track goes away

We will absolutely be doing our best with the track. Of course like everyone, we always can get better!

You did the finals show a few years back and it was a big flop we only got too see 12 or 16 tractors for the night show more talking than pulling real boring. I have been going to langford for 40+years and that was the worst show you put on. Hopefully this will be better but I don, t see it happening

We at Langford aim to put on the best possible show every year. Yes we do try different things and they don't always go as planned. There it is December - January and we are trying to decide what to do when there is no guarantee of the number of tractors who will be running each class. Then it's August and the breakage can be significant... Thanks for recalling the last time because we remember. That is why after the break there is 2 Full Classes and the Finals which will all be 5-7 in each division..

Last year was our first year attending the Langford pull. Was always told for years "You gotta go to Langford"

We loved the show definately worth the money fantastic show and love the chicken bbq. Great event for a little community.

We are hoping this year to join in the llss class provided things go as planned. Langford is definately one to attend and the people involved should be proud to put on such a great event.

That sounds better Bill the top three tractors from NY and ESP would be good then we would see who is better. Maybe four tractors from each club would be better. that would give you enough tractors to put on a nice show Just my 2 cents

Just a reminder to Pullers from outside of Western New York. You are all welcome to come out and spend the weekend with us. Our Saturday Jamboree featuring Darryl Worley will be a great time for those who want to get away and enjoy our festivities. East Coast Pullers and OSTPA members we are not that far away from your Saturday Night Hooks. Our groups welcome one day hooks and the Langford Pull Off in the evening is open to the top finishers regardless of affiliation.
The Weather forecast looks great and we are looking forward to seeing a great turn out in Langford on the 6th & 7th. Safe Travels!

Keeping the track consistent has been a battle the past few years for many reasons. We have had some not so friendly weather that has dumped massive amounts of rain on sundays before the pull. Luckily we have enough equipment around that we were able to get things fixed up enough to keep the event going. It's always better when we dictate how much water goes in rather than Mother Nature. The past two years our gremlin has been the beginning of the track, we extended it about 100ft so we could accommodate more room for runoff at the finish line end. The extra and new material at the start of the track took some time to settle and get the air out of it. It also took a couple pulls to get the new clay mixed in with the old. Over the years the track had become a blend of the old Langford track, East Edens track material, and Clay from the same location the Strawberry Fields clay came from. We really only have one shot a year to do work on the track before it gets graded and topsoil put back on so there is time to re-grow the grass and get it in shape for the jamboree. Rome wasn't built in a day!
