Hello all.....kicking around the idea of turning an ole 2640 into a pulling tractor....it does not have a reverser....my question is how much of a beating will they take? I dont want to wind up with a time bomb on my hands....thanks in advance for the advice... |

What class/rules are you looking at for it? |

Not real sure on the class you would call it.....but what I'm thinking of would be 5500-9500 lbs.....6.8 power tech engine single charger, probably inter cooled, 18.438 cut tires......my questions are would a heavy enough input shaft be available? Does anyone make gears to possibly speed it up if needed? And most of all would the trans and rear handle it.......estimated hp would be 5-700 range I would anticipate......let me know thanks |

I was considering a 2120/30 rear end. (Canadian model numbers..) I was told that they will likely hold up, although there are no 'off the shelf' parts like there are for the 4010 rear ends. You would have to do the R&D for making go fast gears and such. If you can make enough hp to use road gear, then one could go without any go fast or half gears. These chassis' are much more available now then a 4010! I was considering it for 7000lb. Hope others chime in on this. |
